Collection for the Catholic Military Archdiocese

We are asked to take up a special collection to support Catholic ministry to men and women serving in the military.  Our military men and women put themselves in danger to protect our country.  Many are Catholics and the Catholic Church provides priests and other spiritual services to support them.  Catholic ministry to those in the military is especially important in this time of war.  The collection will be this Sunday, April 19.  Please be generous.

Day of Prayer for China and May Procession

We will have our annual day of prayer for China and May Procession in honor of Mary on Sunday, May 24.  There will be one Mass at 11:15 AM that Sunday followed by a procession to Saint John Church where we will have a May Crowning.  Since it is the year of Saint Francis, the procession to Saint John’s is also a Saint Francis pilgrimage.

Deacon David to become Father David

Deacon David Wei, who has been assisting at Holy Redeemer for the past two years, will be ordained to the priesthood at Saints Peter and Paul cathedral on Saturday, May 16.  The following day, May 17, Father David will celebrate the 12:30 Mass at Holy Redeemer, followed by a social and lunch.

Washington DC Pilgrimage

There is an annual Asian American Mass and pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception each May.  We have not participated in the past.  This year, I have committed to attend and all Holy Redeemer parishioners and friends are welcome.  It is Saturday, May 2.

We hope to visit the Shrines of Saint John Paul and the Holy Land, in addition to the Mass at the National Shrine.

There will be a sign up sheet in the back of the church.  Depending on how many sign up, we may take a bus or a van or several vans.  I don’t know the cost yet, but I will assure that it is modest.

We will leave Holy Redeemer at 7:30 AM and return around 7:30 PM in the evening.
