Day of Prayer for China and May Procession

We will have our annual day of prayer for China and May Procession in honor of Mary on Sunday, May 24.  There will be one Mass at 11:15 AM that Sunday followed by a procession to Saint John Church where we will have a May Crowning.  Since it is the year of Saint Francis, the procession to Saint John’s is also a Saint Francis pilgrimage.

Deacon David to become Father David

Deacon David Wei, who has been assisting at Holy Redeemer for the past two years, will be ordained to the priesthood at Saints Peter and Paul cathedral on Saturday, May 16.  The following day, May 17, Father David will celebrate the 12:30 Mass at Holy Redeemer, followed by a social and lunch.

11:15 Mass

When the 11:15 Mass ends late, it creates problems for our Sunday School and Mandarin Mass communities.  Starting next week, we will begin the 11:15 English Mass at 11:15, the scheduled start time.

Home Mission Second Collection

The second collection this week, May 17, will be to support Catholic missions in the United States, mostly in poor rural places.

Holy Redeemer School Spotlight

Happy May! We hope this message finds you well as we enter the final stretch of the school year. It’s hard to believe there are less than six weeks left, but we still have many meaningful and exciting experiences ahead for our students.

Our 4th–8th grade students recently had the opportunity to visit the Museum of the American Revolution, where they explored how this pivotal moment in history shaped our nation and influenced the world. It was a valuable and engaging learning experience for all who attended.

Back on campus, students have been busy with hands-on learning through our garden project—planting flowers to take home and helping beautify our school garden. At the same time, classrooms are preparing for end-of-trimester assessments, while our kindergarten students are getting ready for their transition into 1st grade. It’s a season of growth, reflection, and celebration.

Please take note of the following important upcoming dates:

  • Monday, May 18: No School – Teacher Retreat Day
  • Tuesday, May 19: The Emperor’s New Clothes Play from Walnut Street Theatre (at Holy Redeemer)
  • Friday, May 22: Teacher vs. Student Basketball Game
  • Monday, May 25: No School – Memorial Day
