Second Collection for Catholic Home Missions
The annual collection to support Catholic missionary work in the United States will be taken at all Masses next Sunday, May 11.
Annual Mass for China and May Procession
On Sunday May 18, there will be ONE Mass at 11:15 for all parishioners. The Mass will be to pray for the Catholic Church in China. After Mass there will be a procession in honor of the Mother of God and the May crowning.
Cabrini Film Showing
The “Cabrini” film will be shown at the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul on May 10 at 1:00 PM in the Drexel Hall beneath the Cathedral Chapel
Jubilee Pilgrimage
Pope Francis has designated 2025 as a Jubilee Year. The theme is hope and one of the purposes of a Jubilee year is receive forgiveness from God and reconciliation with others.
Catholics are encouraged to go on a Jubilee Pilgrimage, to go to confession and to receive blessings from God.
Holy Redeemer and Saint John parishioners are invited to a pilgrimage to the shrines of Emmitsburg, Maryland on Saturday, May 10. We will leave at 8:30 AM and return by 8:30 PM.
There will be a sign up sheet in the back of the church. Please let us know if you plan to attend and if you need transportation.
Chinatown Stitch
The Chinatown Stitch is a project to place a cap (or cover) over the Vine Street Expressway between Holy Redeemer and Chinatown. The hope is that there will be a park with trees and grass and that the link between Holy Redeemer and Chinatown will be strengthened.
On Wednesday, May 7 there will be an open house in the cafeteria in the Teresa Hu Center from 5-8 PM so that members of the community can stop by, receive information and offer ideas for how this new green space should be used.
Holy Redeemer School Spotlight
There is no school Monday, May 5th for Staff Development Day.
Next week’s school students’ Mass on Wednesday will feature a May Procession and crowning of our Lady.
Fr. Tom provided seeds, pots, and soil at this past week’s students’ Mass to commemorate Earth Day.
